Workshop

Discovering Systems Thinking for Urban and Territorial Design - Anna Pagani, with Aristide AthanassiadisSystems Thinking in the Age of Transition EPFL

As part of the Systems Thinking course, the students engaged in a two-day workshop with Anna Pagani on how to navigate and live in a world of complex systems. The use of causal loop diagrams was introduced to the students as a key tool for representing and communicating systems structures and identifying places to intervene. In this context, Aristide Athanassiadis provided key insights on the socioecological transitions of cities, showing how a better understanding of the flows and metabolism of urban systems can contribute to shaping informed practitioners.
